Even when we do believe, we can live our lives like functional atheists, meaning, although we say we believe, when push comes to shove we rely on ourselves rather than trusting God or the teachings of Jesus for circumstances of our lives. So, we can pray, Lord, I believe, but help me with my unbelief.
