Family Programs

At Neighbours Church our goal is help children thrive in life by discovering a relationship with Jesus, modeling His teachings, and making Him known to others.

Discover a relationship with Jesus:

... not just to know about Him, but to discover what it means to walk with Him in a healthy vibrant relationship. Trusting Him and the life principles He taught us to live by, talking with Him, learning how to accept His love and grace, and how to respond with a life of worship.

Modeling his teaching:

It is not enough to know the Bible, we must learn to apply it to our everyday lives, even at a young age, and to discover that when we submit to the principles within, the choices we make lead to more vibrant opportunities in the future.

Making Him Known to Others:

Anything we love in life, anything we enjoy, anything we have benefited from, we usually want to share with others for their benefit. Our relationship with Jesus is no different; sharing how we’ve benefited from our relationship with Jesus in everyday life only helps others to enjoy what we ourselves have benefited from.

Navigating Arrival for Family Programs:

  • Sign in as you come in at the computer in the lobby and it will print a sticker for you and a sticker for your kids. If it’s your first time it will take a few minutes to register your child, but you can also do that ahead of time by clicking ‘here’.
  • If it's your first time, stop by the kids information desk, and our volunteers will be glad to answer any questions or to help you and your kids get settled with any specific needs they might have.
  • Then all you need to do is drop them off at their age specific ministry area.
  • Where you drop them off, you will pick them up after.

All of our staff and volunteers have been screened, gone through our ‘Plan to Protect’ training protocols, and for those 16 years of age and older had a criminal record check done, before working with your kids.

Nursery: Ages 0-2

The Neighbours Church nursery serves families with children from birth to age 2, giving parents the opportunity to worship regularly in services while their little ones are cared for by a team of caring and dedicated volunteers.

Fun Church: Ages 2.5-Grade 1

This program is intended for families with children from age 2.5 to Grade 1, which seeks to build a strong foundation in the lives of the little ones entrusted to our care, through music, playtime, stories, and Bible lessons. The goal is to get kids to understand who God is, what He’s done, and our part in the Big story.

Junior Church: Grade 1 to Grade 6

This program is intended for families with children between Grade 1 and Grade 6. In Junior Church, we unpack God’s Word and seek to apply it in our lives. Whether it’s your first time to church or you’re an active follower of Jesus, we would be happy for you to join us as we worship, pray, play games, do crafts, and learn from the Bible. This is where the foundations laid in our earlier programs help children to now thrive in life by discovering a relationship with Jesus, modeling His teachings, and making Him known to others.

Youth Church: Grade 7 to Grade 12

This program is intended for families with children between Grade 7 and Grade 12. This age group joins in our regular Sunday programming, but has an individualized program on Friday nights from 7-9pm. In this Youth Church time, teenagers will have a time of song worship, prayer, and take time to help one another unpack God’s word and apply it to the situations they are facing in everyday life. They will go through youth alpha once a year, and explore other relevant curriculum to their age and interests. Once a month, they will volunteer at one of our partners (Ottawa Inner City Ministries, Matthew House for Refugees, Trick of Treat for the Barrhaven Food Cupboard) or take a social night together at the movies, bowling, or something of interest to the youth.

*Many students in high school are volunteering through Youth Church to get their 40 hours of volunteer time for high school.
